Who We Are

Maintaining Excellence

Keep Alameda Schools Excellent - Yes on Measure H (KASE) is dedicated to promoting and maintaining excellence within Alameda's public schools. KASE is organized as a committee primarily formed to support a parcel tax measure benefiting Alameda Unified School District (FPPC #1303778).

The driving force behind KASE is a large and diverse volunteer base of Alameda residents. You can join KASE's volunteer base by signing up here.

The KASE committee includes Alameda parents whose children are current and former students of Alameda's public schools:

Proposed state budget cuts are threatening the funding and quality of Alameda's public schools. The Governor's proposed suspension of Proposition 98 guaranteed funding and reductions in base funding will result in a shortfall of $4.5 million in Alameda Unified Schools District's (AUSD) budget. Without alternative sources of revenue, this shortfall will lead to devastating staffing and program cuts in our public schools.

KASE is a group of concerned Alamedans – parents, teachers, local leaders and activists – working to coordinate and drive a community response to the proposed cuts.

Measure H on Alameda's June ballot implements a temporary residential and commercial parcel tax that directly benefits Alameda Unified School District. The parcel tax should generate around $4.2 million per year for the district, offsetting the budget cuts proposed by the Governor.

It's essential to pass Measure H in order to maintain the excellence of Alameda's public schools. Alamedans should vote YES on Measure H.
